Why convert VHS and other tapes to DVD?

Information recorded onto VHS and similar tapes is actually a temporary method because the tapes are easily rewritable. The tape is sensitive to magnets, heat, dust and other environmental hazards.

DVD's are far more robust and are the most widely used video media format around the world. The data is more secure as it is stored in a digital format so it can be easily copied onto a computer.
